Civil Rights Law encompasses a host of situations where an individual’s constitutional and/or statutory rights have been violated by an employer, an agent of the government or a governmental jurisdiction. Both Federal and State Laws prohibit such violations.
I represent clients in a variety of civil rights cases including:
- Civil Rights violations by law enforcement officers such as excessive use of force, false arrest, unlawful searches and seizures, and unlawful detention;
- Wrongful Employment Discharge based on race, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or other protected classes; whistleblowing; requesting overtime, rest breaks, or lunch breaks; taking pregnancy or family medical leave; refusing to work in an unsafe workplace; serving on jury duty;
- Workplace Harassment and Intimidation;
- Inmate cases including failure to ensure inmate safety; failure to provide adequate medical treatment; sexual assaults;
- Housing Discrimination.
When those in positions of power abuse their authority, they can and should be held accountable.
